Pair it with the claw/pick up tool and you have the ability to retrieve lost canes and straws in the bottom of your tank.  The claw/pick up tool also has a light on the end of it. Salvaging the straw is not always possible but the ability to retrieve dropped items will make your canisters sit better in the tank and improve overall function when mishaps occur...and they will occur.
