Are you looking for a long-term storage dewar for semen, embryos or eggs? And do you need a portable, lightweight tank able to store large numbers of straws? If so, the Standard Capacity (SC) and Extra Capacity (XC) series of aluminum dewars could be just what you need.

The SC series offers standard straw capacity with longer hold times, depending on the size of the dewar. Meanwhile, the Semen Tank - XC series offers large straw capacities, along with different canister options depending on your inventory management.

Whichever you choose, you can rely on both of these durable units to perform. They’ll provide quality storage for your elite genetics for many years to come, even in the most demanding environments. What’s more, both the SC and XC models offer low liquid nitrogen consumption. This is in addition to some innovative design features that offer extra security for your samples.

Bend Don't Break™ (Patent Pending)

This redesigned top head can absorb G-force damage to the neck area of the dewar. This minimizes the chance of product loss through mishandling and during transportation.

SOME DO’S AND DON’TS

Do

Do keep the MVE  tank in a well-lit, well-ventilated area.
Do place a wooden pallet or rigid foam underneath the tank.
Do use mild soap and water to clean the tank as needed.
Do check the nitrogen level regularly.
Do replace the neck cork after use.
Do keep a pair of safety glasses near the tank and use them.
Do lock the MVE  tank when not in use.
Do securely tie down a tank in the bed of a truck for transport.
Do keep the top of the can below the neck tube when retrieving a straw of semen.
Do use a clip to secure the canister below the critical zone.
Do use a pre-cooled tweezers to handle semen.
Do limit exposure of the straw to air between the tank and thaw unit.

Don’t

Don’t store the MVE  tank directly on concrete.
Don’t store tanks in the milkhouse.
Don’t use a piece of pipe to measure nitrogen levels.
Don’t transport the tank in the passenger seat of a vehicle.
Don’t use a strong jet of water to clean the tank’s exterior.

Storage Tanks

The TWO primary considerations in choosing an MVE semen/embryo storage tank are

- Number of units you will be storing
- Number of weeks a tank holds (In other words, time between the refills)

MVE  Storage tanks are divided into two categories, SC (Standard Capacity) and XC (X-tra capacity). The handy dandy chart below illustrates the various models and capacities of our most popular models.
